Robbers` gang, motorcycle thieves arrested

TAXILA: Wah police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a robbery gang and a pair of motorcycle thieves, in addition to arresting 15 drug peddlers and 11 proclaimed offenders.

Addressing a press conference at the Wah Saddar police station, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) (Operations) Rawalpindi Irfan Tariq said a crackdown on anti-social elements led to the police apprehended a three person inter-provincial gang of robbers whose members were identified as Wahid Shah, Agha Badshah and Naeem Khan.

He said the gang was allegedly involved in a number of robberies in various cities, including Taxila and Wah. Mr Tariq said weapons and stolen items were recovered from the gang members.

Mr Tariq said the arrests of a pair of motorcycle thieves, identified as Nasir and Faizan, had led to the recovery of eight motorcycles from their possession, allegedly stolen from various parts of Taxila, Wah and nearby areas.

He said a crackdown on proclaimed offenders had led to the arrest of 11 individuals, five of whom were wanted in category A heinous crimes. He said 11 people were also held for sheltering proclaimed offenders. Correspondent
