`World should stop rights violations in held Kashmir`

LA HORE: The Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI) on Tuesday protested against the atrocities of Indian army in held Kashmir.

Scores of women gathered at Liberty Chowk and protested against the Indian government for violating human rights in the Valley.

Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman Yasin Malik`s wife Mishaal Malik, WCCI President Shazia Suleman and other women attended the protest. The participants shouted slogans against India for continu-ous occupation of Kashmir.

Talking to the media, Mishaal said the world should stop India for violating human rights in Kashmir and they should be given their right to freedom.

`The Indian forces are using pellets to disperse peaceful protesters in which more than 5,000 people, including children and women, were injured.

She said 800 people had been rendered blind in the last 88 days and the Indian government had imposed a curfew in the Valley and they were not allowed to go for medical assistance.

She said her husband Yasin Malik was arrested by the forces and he was put in an interrogationcell. She contacted the court for Yasin`s medical check-up but it was not allowed.

`More than 5,000 people were put in jails for interrogation and they are being tortured in prisons.

Ms Mishaal said more than 200 women were raped and over 1,000 were molested in the Valley. The Indian government had forcefully shut down the Valley for any type of communication, including the Internet service, and closing down all media houses. It was using deadly chemicals to kill the innocent people.

Ms Mishaal said she had written letters to the international community and the world powers on the issue.

`I have written to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Amnesty International, United Kingdom and European Union Parliament to take practical and diplomatic steps and enforce sanctions on India over the Kashmir issue.

She said she would launch a signature campaign from Oct 27 and would go door to door to mobilise people against the atrocities of Indian forces.

Mishaal was also accompanied by her three-year-old daughter, Razia Sultana.
