GUJRAT: The threekilometre road linking Gujrat-Jalalpur Jattan Road to the Univeristy of Gujrat`s Hafiz Hayat Campus is full of potholes.

A varsity official told Dawn the road had damaged buses while students threatened to hold protests at the pathetic condition from the DCO office to the Chief Minister`s House in Lahore if the road was not built.A district finance and planning department official said Rs200 million were approved for the construction and widening of the road, which was to be carpeted. Later, they planned to acquire more land to make it a dual carriageway but the carpeting of the road could not be done since the road did not fulfill the required traffic count.

Now, the road would be widened with a triple surface treatment in the next few months.
