KARACHI: A 56-year old doctor belonging to the Hindu community was shot dead in Pak Colony, police said on Friday.
Dr Preetam Das was sitting in his Bismillah Clinic in Hasrat Mohani Colony at midnight on Thursday while his compounder had gone to buy a top-up card nearby when someone attacked him, said SSP (investigation, west zone) Akhtar Farooq.
He sustained a single bullet wound in the chest. Hearing the gunshot, the compounder rushed to the clinic and found the doctor bleeding. He called a friend and they took the victim to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
The doctor’s son, Mukesh Kumar, arrived at the hospital and shifted his father to the Aga Khan University Hospital, where he died.
The SSP said the suspect did not take away anything from the victim.
He said the police were investigating the case to ascertain the motive for the murder. The victim was a resident of Garden East.
