B-Form condition for Class-IX exam being abolished, LHC told

LA HOR E: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) told the Lahore High Court on Wednesday that it was going to withdraw condition of having the Form-B for students desiring to sit Class IX examination.

The board`s legal adviser stated this during hearing of a petition challenging the Form-B condition for Class IX students. The court directed the adviser to submit an undertaking in writing on the next hearing.

Earlier, Advocate Sheraz Zal(a argued on behalf of petitioner that the students felt burdened because of the condition. He said the form was meant for those who wanted to go abroad. He asked the court to abolish the condition for Class IX exams.

The court adjourned hearing till Nov 9.

DEFAULTERS: A LHC division bench stayed action of the National Accountability Bureau against a steel mills for recovery of electricity bill.

The bench also directed the registrar office to club the plea with already pending petitions against the NAB jurisdiction to recover dues from the electricity distribution companies` defaulters.

Advocate Mohsin Virk argued on behalf of the mills that the NAB had been taking coercive measures against his client despite a stay order issued by the court against the bureau`s powers in the matter. He said NAB action was in violation of the stay order. He asked the bench to restrain the bureau from taking action against the mills in terms of recovery of the electricity bill.

The bench granted stay to the petitioner and adjourned hearing till Oct 26.-Staff Reporter
