Generals & democracy

2016-10-06
IMAGINE a former dictator facing charges under Article 6 has the audacity to repeat and reject democracy like what his predecessor, the great field marshal, did in the early 1960s. Ironically, however, in their self interest both ended up flirting with democracy. In fact, each one of them, in their wisdom, either toyed with the idea of `Basic Democracy`, or `Devolution of Powers`.

But it was Ayub who caused the real damage by throttling the tender sapling of democracy in its teething days. No wonder today we are made to hear sermons even from the junior adventurers.
