Four kiln owners held for `lashing` labourer

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested four men who allegedly thrashed a labourer at a kiln of Khanpur`s Kotla Mahi area.

A labourer, Nadeem, claimed that he started work at a bricks company at Basti Surell a few months ago and when he asked for his wages, the owner refused to make payment.

After three months, he said, he again demanded his wages but the owner took him to a private torture cell near the workplace and lashed him with the help of four accomplices.

Nadeem further alleged that the kiln owner also kept the families of many labourers in the torture cell for demanding their salaries.

Umar Saleem, PRO to DPO, said brick kiln owners Siddique Ahmed, Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Ismail and Muhammad Ahmed had been taken into custody.Another police official claimed that Nadeem was tortured by the kiln owners on the allegation of his suspicious activities.

POLICEMEN HELD: Two officials of the Sadigabad police were arrested after suspension from service on the allegation of keeping a person in illegal custody and torturing him.

Sources said Ehsan Aslam, the owner of a snooker club at National Highway, quarreled with a relative of Saddar police sub-inspector Naqqash Shah over some financial dispute. Naqqash arrested him and kept him at the Saddar police station.

Mahmood, an ASI, made video clips of Ehsan`s illegal detention and torture and shared it on social media.

The district police authorities took notice of the matter and ordered the arrest of both police officials after suspending them from service.

PRO Umar Saleem told this correspondent that the DPO had ordered a departmental inquiry.
