Free laptops given to Swat varsity students

MINGORA: The University of Swat (UoS) distributed 27 laptops among MPhil scholars under the Prime Minister`s Laptops Scheme on Wednesday.

A function was held here at the main Odigram campus of UoS to give laptops to the students of different departments. In the second phase, laptops would be distributed among students of master`s programme in all the departments of the university.

UoS provost Fida Hussain said on this occasion that the PM`s Laptops Scheme was aimed at helping the students in their research work.

He said that students should take maximum benefit of these laptops.

He said that the varsity had been trying to impart quality education to the students since its establishment in 2010, adding that laptops were essential for students as they had to conduct research in their relevant fields.

Director quality enhancement cell of UoS Dr Shahid and other administrative officers were also present at the ceremany.

The statement said that diagnostic equipments were available to the patients throughout the day and different medicines were distributed among them free of cost.

The ISPR, Swat, spokesperson said that organising a free medical camp was part of the welfare activities being conducted by the Pakistan Army in Malakand division.

He said that they would also provide such facilities to people in other areas of the district.
