Edwardes College finally gets principal

PESHAWAR: The board of governors of the Edwardes College on Friday approved the appointment of Brig (retired) Dr Nayar Fardous as principal of the prestigious institution.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan chaired the board’s special meeting held at the Governor House here.

The nomination was recommended by a high powered search committee, constituted by the board almost six months earlier.

The committee was headed by Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peshawar Professor Rasool Jan and comprised of Mohammad Ali Shahzad, provincial secretary Higher Education, Archives and Libraries Professor Nasser Ali Khan, Vice-Chancellor, University of Haripur, Dr Khalid Khan, and Attaullah Shah, deputy secretary to governor, besides Reverend Shahzad Murad, a nominee of the Bishop,Diocese of Peshawar.

The post of the principal was advertised twice in the media and the committee after having thorough examination of a total of 50 candidates, who had applied in response to both the advertisements, found Dr Nayar Fardous at the top of the list.

Mr Fardous has served a number of prestigious educational institutions.
