KOHAT: Traders were on Monday issued a three-day deadline to voluntarily remove the marked parts of their extended shops in the Kohat city, or the tehsil municipal administration would do so itself.

The directives were issued by tehsil nazim Malik Taimoor Khan. It may be recalled that a few days ago, the TMA`s antiencroachment staff had marked the extended parts of the shops going beyond the three feet limit.

Later, an operation was launched, but it was stopped by the traders who demanded that a magistrate and shopkeepers should accompany the municipal staff during the drive, which they demanded, should be conducted during the night time for convenience of the pedestrians and motorists.

LIQUOR FACTORY RAIDED: The Kohat police busted a liquor-making factory during a raid at a house in labour colony here on Monday.

The raid was conducted on a tip-off by SHO of Riaz Mohammad Shaheed Police Station conducted. Two drums carrying about 160 litres of liquor, hundreds of empty bottles were seized and an accused, Nazeer Khan alias Neko of the college town was arrested. Later, the accused was presented in a court which sent him to Kohat prison.

In another incident, the police foiled an attempt of arms smuggling and arrested the alleged carrier.

The police stopped a passenger coach near Muslimabad checl(post which was going to Bannu from Darra Adamkhel.

Upon checking of passengers the police recovered two repeaters, five pistols and 1,500 cartridges of 30-bore pistol from Munir Khan of Bannu. An FIR was registered against him.

Meanwhile, the Junglekhel police arrested 68 suspects on Monday, among them two Afghan proclaimed of fenders, and seized weapons and drugs from them.

The weapons and drugs included four Kalashnikovs, 12 pistols, three kilogrammes hashish, half a kilogramme of heroin and Rs53,730. Correspondent
