Pesco to replace defective meters

2016-12-06
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company has announced that it will replace all the defective meters, repair the faulty transformers and dispose of pending connections by Dec 31, 2016.

This was announced by Pesco Chief Executive Anwar-ul-Haq Yousufzai while presiding over a high level meeting at Wapda House here on Monday.

According to a statement, the Pesco chief showed anger over the non-replacement of 53,000 defective meters in different circles and ordered their replacement by end of this month, failing which disciplinary action will be taken against the responsible.

Mr Yousufzai also took serious notice of a large number of pending new connections, particularly in various government departments, despite availability of necessary material, and directed the concerned to provide these connections in the stipulated time.

Similarly, he ordered immediate disconnection of power to the defaulters, with directives to the staffers to submit the particulars of all the defaulters to NAB by Dec 31 to ensure early recovery.

The Pesco CEO directed officials to replace the damaged distribution transformers immediately in areas where losses were less and recovery was good. He also ordered shifting all the faulty transformers to the workshops so that they could be repaired and used in the coming summer.

He also directed that 100 per cent implementation of photo meter reading must be ensured by month end to overcome over-billing complaints.

Mr Yousufzai directed the field officers to specially reduce losses on 73 high loss feeders, saying line losses was the main cause of Pesco`s deficit. Bureau Report
