Model college principals asked to be polite to visitors

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has directed principals of model schools and colleges to be courteous with people visiting the institutions for admission purposes.

A source at the FDE said there had been several complaints against principals who used harsh words with parents who visited their educational institutions.

He said even parliamentarians had complained against the rude behaviour of some principals.

He said a few days back, an MNA lodged a complaint with State Minister for CADD Barrister Usman Ibrahim against a principal who did not entertain his request properly regarding admission of a student.

`Following the complaints of parents, we directed principals, through an official notification, to deal with admission seekers in a polite manner,` an of ficial of the FDE told Dawn.

According to the letter issued by Director Model Colleges Dr Tariq Masood on Monday, the minister has taken serious notice of various complaints lodged by parliamentarians, parents and journalists that the behaviour of principals towards the visitors was harsh, and a cause of embarrassment for the higher authorities.

The letter said that it was a fact that there were only 20 model colleges having school section in Islamabad and the pressure for admissions was immense as there were over 50,000 students enrolled in these institutions. -A Reporter
