SHEIKHUPURA: A good number of sanitary workers and lady health visitors on Tuesday held a demonstration against what they said apathy of the health department for not releasing their salaries for the last one year.

The protesters blocked traffic on GT Road near Muridke and chanted slogans against the health department.

Five LHVs fainted owing to scorching heat and later they were shifted to hospital.

The chief officer of health said contract of some of the protesters was not renewed. `However.the department is looking into the matter and will resolve the problem before Eid,` he said.

BODY RECOVERED: The body of a youth, who had drowned in the Upper Chenab Canal, was recovered on Tuesday.

Motorcyclist Shahzad, 25, was on his way to his village when he fell into the canal. His body was recovered on Tuesday.

ACCIDENT: A 17-yearold motorcyclist was killed after being collided with a speeding tractortrolley near bypass on Gujranwala Road.

Ammar was on his way home when the tractortrolley hit him, killing him on the spot.

B Division police are looking into the matter.
