MUZA F FA R A BA D: Renowned academician Dr Khawaja Farooq Ahmad assumed the charge of vice chancellor of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK), here on Thursday.

A notification regarding his appointment was issued by the Services and General Ad ministration Department following the approval by President Sardar Mohammad Yaqoob Khan, who happens to be the chancellor of all public sector universities in AJK.

Dr Ahmad would hold this post until the permanent appointment of vice chancellor through a search committee. He has replaced Dr Syed Dilnawaz Ahmed Gardezi, whose three-year term expired on August 3.

The new VC has more than 24 years of teaching and research experience at various universities. He has also served as founder Director of Academics, Education Planning & Research (A E P&R) at the UAJK, over a period of nine years. Prior to his current appointment, he was serving in COMSATS HT Äbbottabad on deputation basis. Staff Correspondent
