Pensioners threaten protest

MINGORA: Members of the All Pakistan Pensioners Association, Swat chapter, on Sunday threatened to stageaprotestinfrontofthe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly if the government did not pay them benevolent funds and make the process of collecting pension from bankseasy.

They made the decision at their annual meeting held in Saidu Sharif where hundreds of pensioners from across Swat district participated.

The pensioners said they had been raising voice for their rights, but both the federal and provincial governments did not listen to them.

`We will soon demonstrate in front of the KP Assembly, for which the date will soon be announced,` said Fazal Mabood, president of the association.

He said in the second phase they would besiege the Parliament House in Islamabad, adding the pensioners were also citizens of the country, but the government had ignored them. Correspondent
