SHEIKHUPURA: Five armed men on Tuesday attacked a Faroogabad police van on Sargodha Road near Jhamke and had an undertrial released.

Reports said Umer Iqbal was being taken from the court to police station under an escort consistingof an ASI and four constables. Near Jhamke, five armed men ambushed the police van and had their accomplice released.

The policemen moved away when the suspects opened Ere at the van.

Iqbal was allegedly involved in a number of criminal cases.

The district police officer has ordered investigation into the incident.
