PESHAWAR: Provincial Home Secretary Akhtar Ali Shah said on Tuesday that public support was vital to curb crime and improve performance of police.

Addressing a seminar titled `Policy dialogue on developing a community policing policy`, he said that police were playing pivotal role in maintaining law and order.

According to a press release, Mr Shah said that reconciliation committees were being established at police station level to eliminate of crime. AIG Shaukat Hayat also spoke on the occasion about importance of community policing. He said that community policing was not an isolated activ`rty.
