Employees threaten protest against LRH admin

2016-02-08
PESHAWAR: The health employees` council has expressed concern over what it called arbitrary decisions taken by the Lady Reading Hospital`s administration upon the advice of its board of governors, and warned of protests if the `controversial` steps aren`t revoked.

Speaking at a meeting here on Sunday chaired by the council`s president Dr Musa Kalim, the participants said two holidays announced by the BoG at the LRH had multiplied the problems of patients who visited the health facility for free healthcare, according to apressrelease.

The patients, who had already been suffering due to prolonged waiting lists for operations, would suffer further with Saturdays and Sundays as day-of fs, they insisted.

The participants said the employees were undeterred by the `threats` and transfers of their colleagues, and would continue to struggle for their rights.

They claimed that institution-based practice at the hospital was a way to mint money from patients, who couldn`t af ford paid treatment and said the representatives of the health employees` council, including doctors, paramedics, nurses and other employees of the hospital, planned to meet Prof Nausherwan Burki, the BoG chairman, regarding removal of their reservations over the Medical Teaching Reforms Act, 2015.
