UoG holds TEDx for idea-focused talks

GUJR AT: The T EDx University of Gujrat (UoG) was held in Prof Dr Mohammad Nizamuddin Library Auditorium of the university on Tuesday.

About 200 students of different departments attended the event. GC University Faisalabad ViceChancellor Muhammad Ali Shah was the chief guest.

Prominent artistes, performers, actors, investment bankers and presenters participated as the guest speakers. Among those guest speale ers were actor Sania Saeed, Shahzad Nawaz, Mir Muhammad Ali Khan, Zakir Thaver, Bin Qulandar, Fatima Lodhi and Muhammad Haider Miraj.

All speakers gave a 18-minute talk on a particular idea concentrating on learning and behavioural training of the young students.

TEDx is an event where speakers give talks for not more than 18 minutes, focusing a well-formed idea.The theme of the T EDx was `String the Pearls of Time` with a goal to bring together bright minds to deliver idea-focused talks on a wide range of subjects to foster learning, inspiration and wonder among the students provoking conversations that matter.

GCU Faisalabad VC Muhammad Ali said the higher values of life helped us to improve our abilities, adding that it was responsibility of the universities to incline the young minds towards practical side of life.

UoG VC Dr Ziaul Qayyum said we should bravely face the challenges of life malcing our best efforts to succeed, adding that continuous struggle in life was essential for achieving goals and making human condition better. He assured that he would make efforts for improving education standards at UoG.

One of the guest speakers, Mir Muhammad Ali, said Pakistan was a unique country having immense potential and a vast range of opportunities and Pakistanis were an opti-mistic and resilient nation in spite of many issues.

Sania Saeed talked about the role of theatre and drama in her life sharing her experiences. She said we should channelise our anger casting it into strength of life.

Shahzad Nawaz, talking about perils of freedom, said vision had played an important role in the evolution of human thought and progress.

Haider Miraj said self-awareness, self-recognition, passion and identification should be goals of life, adding that we could get real achievements only through specification of our objectives in life.

Bin Qulandar, Zakir Thaver and Ms Fatima Lodhi also spoke.

The Odeum Art Society of the university performed a short play `Umeed-e-Sehr Ki Baat` directed by Ghaf far Moheyuddin.

An exhibition `Innovatus 15` was also organised by the Physics Society, Dept of Physics, in which students of various departments showcased their creations.
