KARACHI: The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board on Thursday accelerated its driveagainstillegalhydrants and theft of water from its main water lines and demolished two big under-construction hydrants at Surjani Mor and a crush plant in district west.

The KWSB team raided the place with the support of police and the district administration, demolished the hydrants and impounded the generator, a heavy motor and the pipes connected illegally with 24and 66-inch diameter main water line to steal water.

Minister for local government and information Sharjeel Inam Memon, according to a KWSB press release, said the government would not tolerate any illegal hydrants and the drive would continue to eliminate water theft from the main lines.
