87 suspects arrested

ISLAMABAD: Thieves struck at two places, while the capital police arrested 87 people and impounded 276 vehicles being driven without documents, police said here on Wednesday.

The house of Shafaat Ali, located in Kural, was allegedly looted by his housemaid who made off with cash and gold ornaments worth thousands of rupees, the police said.

The police said that the victim in his complaint alleged that his housemaid drugged his family and stole the valuables and the cash from the house, they added.

In another incident a burglar broke into the house of Kashif Mehmood, located in G-9/2, the police said, but the resident overpowered him after a brief resistance and handed him to the police for further legal action.

Meanwhile, the capital police conducted a search operation in different areas of the city and arrested 87 suspects as they failed to prove their identity and were shif ted to police station.

The police also impounded 276 bikes and nine four-wheelers as their owners could not produce their documents, police said.

Furthermore, the Aabpara police arrested a bootlegger and recovered four bottles of liquor from him, the police said, adding that the Golra police arrested two persons for selling diesel illegally. The Shalimar police recovered a 30-bore pistol from a man, the police said.
