PESHAWAR: The Culture Journalists Forum (CJF) plans to meet Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan to convey its reservations regarding negligence of culture and arts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata.

The CJF will also convene meetings of artistes, singers, poets, writers and intellectuals for devising a common strategy to pressure the provincial government to announce a unified cultural policy, and incentives for artistes and writers of the militancy-hit region.

This was announced at a meeting here on Wednesday presided over by CJF`s chairman Ihtisham Toru.

Forum`s general secretary Rokhan Yousafzai, vice-president Amjad Ali Khadim, joint secretary Inayatur Rehman, finance secretary Amjad Hadi Yousafzai and press secretary Sajjad Khalil were also in attendance.

The meeting announced district conveners for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata.

The CJF constituted a four-member committee comprising Amjad Ali Khadim, Amjad Hadi Yousafzai, Inayat-ur-Rehman and Sher Alam Shinwari to contact other literary and cultural organisations for convening a meeting in Peshawar in near future.

The CJF called for early publication and issuance of the cultural directory prepared during the former ANP-led government which was a complete document.

The participants lauded the former ANP-led government for reviving and preservation of literary and cultural activities in the province.

They also decided to write letters to PTI chief Imran Khan and other stakeholders in this regard.
