Christians seek recovery of trader

PESHAWAR: Christian community members on Wednesday blocked Sher Shah Suri Road against the authorities` failure to trace whereabouts of a trader, who was kidnapped from Kohat district some 18 months ago.

Holding banners and placards inscribed with demands for early recovery of the trader, Peter Jin, the protesters shouted slogans against authorities for their failure to curb kidnapping incidents.

They also asked for protection to the members of the Christian community.

Talking to mediapersons Pakistan Masihi League, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, chairman John, youth league coordinator Babar Lal and women wing leader Ms Farzana said that Peter Jin was kidnapped by unidentified people from Kohat some 18 months ago when he was sitting in his shop.

They lamented that the government didn`t take any serious step for his recovery.

They said they had not received any demand from anyone for ransom.

The Christians demanded of the government to ensure protection to the minorities, especially the Christian community, and help recover the kidnapped trader.

The people opened the road for traffic after local police assured them of making efforts to trace the trader.-Bureau Report
