THIS is apropos a news report about a bill to be tabled in the Punjab Assembly for regulating the fee structure of schools (April 2). All provincial assemblies should take up the issue to regulate the fee structure of all schools, especially BCG-type schools, sooner rather than later.
There is a need to initiate such steps in Sindh where non-regulation of fee structure of BCG-type schools has been making education a mere business venture.
Even students getting 100pc scholarship have to pay something to these schools for various reasons. Ironically, there are many examples where lab charges are being taken from non-science students.
