Five ‘IS men’ held with explosives

LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of police claimed on Thursday to have arrested five alleged militants of banned IS in Sialkot.

The police team also recovered explosives and maps from them.

A CTD spokesman said a Gujranwala police team got information that five militants belonging to proscribed IS were present in an area near Gohdpur Chowk and were planning to attack sensitive installations in Sialkot.

He said a CTD team raided the place on Wednesday night after receiving the information and arrested Abdul Wahab, Behzad Ali, Shahzaib Zafar, Waqas and Daniyal Arshad. He said they recovered 3,400 gram explosive, 100-inch safety fuse, five non-electric detonators, three bags, three ID cards and maps and Rs3,000 cash. A case was also registered against the suspects at the CTD Gujranwala police station.—Reporter
