BZU economics dept `upgraded`

MULTA N: The Bahauddin Zakariya University vice chancellor while exercising the powers of syndicate has granted the status of school of economics to the university`s economics department.

It was stated by newly appointed director of school of economics, Dr Imran Sharif Chaudhry, while talking to Dawn here on Wednesday. Earlier Dr Chaudhry was the head of economics department.

He said: `After the Quaid-iAzam University, BZU has established the school of eco-nomics and it is the first school of economics in Punjab.

He said after the establishment of the school it would be possible to initiate some new programme while the approval to continue the ongoing programmes had also been granted.

`Two new programmes of logistic economics and Islamic finance will be started soon besides the ongoing programmes of economics and business economics,` he said.

Dr Chaudhry said preparation of PC-I was in progress for the construction of new building for the school of economics.
