Muqam blamed for excessive power outages in Shangla

SHANGLA: Opposition leader in the district council Haji Sadeed ur Rehman has alleged that Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Amir Muqam has given an electricity supply line to Malam Jaba Swat from the Shangla Kotkay grid station, as a result duration of power outages has increased in the district.

Mr Rehman, who is also a leader of Awami National Party, was addressing a public gathering in Batkot area of Bisham on Tuesday, where scores of workers of PML-N announced joining the ANP.

The opposition leader urged the National Accountability Bureau to start corruption probe against Mr Muqam. He also alleged that the district nazim, who also belonged to PML-N, was using the funds on his political activities. `The PML-N is ruling the district for over a decade, but has done nothing for people`s welfare,` he said.

Mr Rehman said the people of Shangla had become politically mature and were joining ANP to become part of Bacha Khan`s non-violent movement.

THREE INJURED: Three persons were injured when a car plunged into Khan Khwar River in Karora area on Tuesday.

Officials of Karora police station told Dawn that a car moving towards Swat from Chilas area of Gilgit-Baltistan fell into the river when it reached Karora, as a result three people were injured.

Police said students of a private school nearby and police rushed to the scene and fished out the injured from the river and took them to rural health centre, Karora, from where doctors referred them to Saidu Teaching Hospital in Swat.

The injured were identified as Hayatullah, Kamran, Asghar Ali, all hailing from Chilas. Correspondent
