Enrolment campaign launched in Dir

TIMERGARA: The Elementary and Se condary Education Department, Lower Dir, on Friday launched the enrolment campaign in the district with the collaboration of Pakistan Reading Project (PRP).

District education officer Hafiz Mohammaad Ibrahim and district nazim Mohammad Rasool Khan inaugurated the drive by admitting out-of-school children in the government schools.

The newly-admitted children were also given books and school bags.

PRP district director Mohammad Ayaz, councillors and education officials were also present on the occasion.

A function in this regard was held at the government high school, Mian Banda. Speaking on the occasion, the DEO appreciated the provincial government`s reforms in the education sector.

He said that education had also been prioritised by the Lower Dir district government. He said thatthe department would try to enrol all of the out-ofschool children during the ongoing enrolment campaign.

ROAD ACCIDENT: A woman was killed while five others were injured when a vehicle plunged into a ravine at Laram Top in the jurisdiction of Ouch police station here on Friday.

Residents said that the vehicle went out of the driver`s control and plunged into a ravine.

As a result, a woman Hassan Pari, a resident of Nawagai Asbanr, was killed on the spot while five others, including Bakht Mahal Bibi, Shaheena, Amir Nawab, Rohullah and Nazar Gul, were injured. The injured were taken to the tehsil hospital, Chal(dara, where their condition was stated to be out of danger. Ouch police have registered the case.

Meanwhile, the Munda tehsil council on Friday approved small development schemes worth Rs8.8 million, which the tehsil nazim Humayun Khan said would be completed within the scheduled time.
