Boy killed in Swabi blast SWABI, Nov 8: A teenaged boy was killed while a senior police official was injured in two blasts here on Friday, police said.

They said a bomb planted by unknown militants near the house of Shah Qadar, a tehsildar in revenue department, in Dandoka village of Razar tehsil, went off, injuring Taimur Khan, 10, who was passing by the spot. However, Shah Qadar and his family remained unhurt in the blast, said the police.

The police registered the case on the complaint of the victim`s family against unknown militants.

Meanwhile, a remote controlled bomb targeted a police vehicle near Bilal Mosque on Swabi-Jehangira road. DSP Zain Khan on board the vehicle got injured in the blast. He was taken to DHQ hospital, Swabi where his condition was stated to be stable.-Correspondent Three die in roof collapse GHALANAI, Nov 8: A woman and her two minor children were killed when roof of a room in their house collapsed in Pandiali tehsil here on Thursday night.

According to local people, roof of the house of Attaullah collapsed in Mamo Kor area due to heavy rain, killing wife of Attaullah and her two children, Shoaib, 7 and Ansoo, 3.

The people rushed to the house soon after the incident and pulled out the bodies from the debris.

Meanwhile, annual tournament of government high schools started in the agency headquarters here on Friday.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by agency education officer Said Mohammad Khan.

Spealcing on the occasion, Mr Khan said it was good omen that players of girls high schools were also taking part in the tournament.

He said that events would be held in the playgrounds of Ghalanai, Ekkaghund and Subkhankhwar.-Correspondent Complaints against officials KOHAT, Nov 8: Advisor to the provincial ombudsman Attaur Rehman Lodhi has said that people should contact his office if they have any complaint against any official or the department.

Addressing a workshop at the Kohat bar association hall here on Friday, he said the ombudsman office had been founded to hear the public complaints without any pressure or influence and provide justice to complainants.

Kohat additional deputy commissioner Fakharuddin and heads of all line departments were also in attendance.

Mr Lodhi said the ombudsman could also hear complaints against armed forces, judicial tribunal and the foreign office. `The office can also hear complaints of government servants against civilians,` he said.

Similarly, said Mr Lodhi, any kind of complaint of corruption against contractors would also entertained.Correspondent Dengue cases on decline MINGORA, Nov 8: Nine more patients on Friday tested positive for dengue virus at Saidu Group of Teaching Hospital, taking the number of affected persons in Swat district to 9,020.

According to Dr Wasil Khan, focal person at SGTH, total 5,148 patients, including nine fresh cases, had been admitted to the hospital since the mosquito-borne disease hit the district. He added that of them 4,966 had been discharged after completion of treatment.-Correspondent Abducted boy reaches home KARAK, Nov 8: A 9th grade student of a private school, who was kidnapped two weeks ago, has reached home in Latambar area here, his relatives said on Friday.

The student, Nadir Iqbal, was kidnapped by unknown kidnappers while coming home from school. The relatives said Iqbal telephoned his home the other day and told them to collect him from the Indus Highway.

They appreciated the police and local elders for their efforts to ensure safe recovery of the kidnapped boy.Correspondent Uplift schemes in Khyber LANDI KOTAL, Nov 8: Refugees Affected and Hosting Areas (RAHA) in collaboration with Fata secretariat on Friday distributed Rs2 million among 24 community organisations for carrying out different development schemes in Khyber Agency.

RAHA`s media coordinator Rahat Shinwari told Dawn a total of Rs1.5 billion would be spent under the RAHA project on completion of 63 development schemes in Jamrud, Malagori and Landi Kotal till December end.

He said the amount would be spent on construction of protection walls, installation of solar water pumps, pavement of streets and irrigation canals.

He said all the funds for RAHA project were provided by the government of Japan for which a monitoring system had been devised to ensure judicious use of funds.

Mr Shinwari said to bring transparency in the project an extensive survey was conducted in the three tehsils in collaboration with local community to select right places for projects. He said the money too would be spent by the community.-Correspondent KMC gets new principal PESHAWAR, Nov 8: Senior pathologist Dr Ejaz Hassan Khan was on Friday appointed Principal of Khyber Medical College, Peshawar, according to a notification issued here.

Dr Khan, a Grade-21 officer, is a graduate of the same college. He did MPhil and PhD from Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, Rawalpindi.

He is fellow at Royal College of Physician, Edinburgh, and College of Pathologist, Pakistan.

Mr Khan is elected member of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council from KP. He is also a poet and author. He is nephew of renowned scholar (late) Professor Pareshan Khattak.-Bureau Report
