Worship places security tightened

ISLAMABAD: The capital police have been directed to patrol the city effectively especially around worship places, police said.

The directives were issued from the SSP (Operations) office, which asked the police to make especial arrangements for security of worship places during prayer timings, they added.

There were over 900 worship places in capital belonging to different schools of thought, they said.

The SSP also ordered crackdown on professional beggars and their handlers, they said, adding that begging was a social evil and all efforts should be made to curb it.

Vigilance of such elements should be maintained at markets, avenues and signals, the SSP asked the police, adding that SHOs should ensure registration ofcases againstprofessionalbeggars.

Meanwhile, the capital police have launched a crackdown on beggars and arrested 10 professional beggars during the last 24 hours while search operation was conducted in various areas resulting into arrest of 87 suspects and three proclaimed offenders.

Similarly, police have started checking vehicles and impounded 354 bikes as well as nine vehicles being driven without documents.
