Poor education?

2016-12-09
IT is alarming that education in Pakistan is deteriotrating day by day. According to the recent UN report, Pakistan is lagging 50 to 60 years behind in the field of education as compared to other countries 50 years in primary education and 60 years in secondary education.

Gone were the days when Pakistan universities were at the top in ranking lists.

The education standard is declining steeply.

A recent report on grading showed that out of 177 universities in Pakistan, none are in the rank of top 1,000 universities. On the other hand, India`s eight universities and Iran`s four universities are included in top-ranking universities.

So the question arises as to why we are backward. The question is well answered by the global education monitoring report last year that today 5.5m children are far from primary education while 1.4m children are far from secondary education. The reason that our neighbours` universities are in top ranking is that their governments attach due priority to education.

Our first and foremost priority should be education.
