KARAK: Karak tehsil municipal administration employees went on strike here the other day against nonpayment of salary, and threatened to lock the of fices and stop provision of municipal services to people if the payment was not made immediately.

On the occasion, employees` union former president Azam Khan said due to a financial crisis the municipal administration did not pay salary to employees for the month of January. He said if the provincial government did not provide special grant to TMA then the employees would also not get salary for the current month.

Meanwhile, Karak Tehsil Nazim Haji Abdul Wahab Khattak visited the camp of the protesting employees and expressed solidarity with them. He said he was trying his level best to arrange funds for payment of withheld salary to the workers. He informed them that he had written to the provincial government about the weak financial position of the Karak TMA, and expressed optimism that the provincial government would take the issue seriously and provide special funds for the TMA.

MAN KILLS BROTHER: A man killed his brother and injured two other relatives over a land dispute in Wanki Sirajkhel area of Takht-iNusrati the other day.

Police said Shafique opened hre on his brother, Nazeerul Islam, killing him on the spot. The motive behind the killing was stated to be a land dispute between them.

Two other relatives, who were present on the occasion, also sustained injuries and were shifted to the tehsil headquarters hospital, Takhti-Nusrati, where doctors said they were in critical condition. They were identified as Arif Nawaz and his father, Gul Nawaz. The police registered FIR and started investigation. Correspondent
