CCPO settles 20 land dispute cases

2016-03-10
LAHORE: More than 20 land grabbing disputes involving overseas Pakistanis were settled at the Capital City Police Officer’s office on Wednesday.

Addressing a meeting of overseas Pakistanis, CCPO Amin Wains said strict action would be taken against the people involved in land grabbing. CIA SSP Umar Virk and Additional District Collector Revenue Muhammad Irfan were also present.

The CCPO listened to the grievances of overseas Pakistanis and directed the police officers to solve their problems regarding land grabbing.

Muhammad Saleem, living in Germany, said he had rented out his house to Ghulam Sarwar Warraich in Johar Town some six years ago. When he wanted to increase the rent, Warraich rejected his demand and refused to vacate the house.

The CCPO called both parties to his office and directed the tenant to vacate the house and hand over possession to Saleem.

In another case, London-based couple Amin and Shazia had purchased a house from Tariq Butt some four years ago. The couple had paid the entire amount but the property dealer was not handing over the house possession.

The couple filed a petition and won the case but police were not cooperating with them.

The CCPO directed the area police to implement the court order and get the house vacated in 10 days. — Reporter
