Four robbers among 16 held in Nowshera crackdown

NOWSHERA: The district police claimed on Monday to have arrested 16 anti-social elements four robbers among them during a crackdown in different areas of the district.
`The arrested criminals were wanted to police of different districts in cases of murder, attempted murder, robberies and drug pushing, said district police officer, Rabnawaz Khan, while briefing mediapersons at his office.
The DPO said that a police party raided a house in Sardehri area of Charsadda and arrested an Afghan national, Taj Mohammad, who along with three accomplices had taken away 10 tola gold ornaments, Rs43,000 cash, two pistols and a Kalakov from the house of Nadir Shah in Haji Abad area of Jehangira, Swabi, last month.
Mr Rabnawaz said that during investigation, the Afghan national disclosed names of his aides, who were also arrested.
They were identified as Mokamel Shah of Bashir Abad, Muslim Shah of Isorro and Fageer Gul. `The policerecovered three tola gold, Rs20,000, two pistols, a Kalakov and a car from their possession,` said the police official.
The DPO claimed that the Afghan man had also admitted to having committed robberies in Akora Khattak, and Takhtbhai area of Mardan district.
He said the arrested robbers had also disclosed names of their accomplices and police were conducting raids to arrest them.
During the crackdown, said Mr Rabnawaz, the police also arrested 12 suspects and recovered a large quantity of ammunition from them.
The district police chief said that the police could root out crimes from the society if the local community extended support to them.
TEACHERS APPOINTED: District education officer, Mohammad Inamullah Toru, on Monday issued the notification of appointment of 23 teachers.
Mr Inamullah said that the teachers were appointed on merit as the Chief Minister Pervez Khattak had strictly directed to uphold merit in appointment of teachers to improve quality of education in public sector schools.
