Protests against drone strike today

PESHAWAR: Religious groups would stage protest rallies in different districts of Kohat division on Friday against the US drone strike in Balochistan last month which killed Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour.

All Pakistan World Jihad Council chairman and chief of Sunni Supreme Council Javed Ibrahim Paracha said in a statement here on Thursday that protest rallies would be taken out in Kohat, Hangu and Karak districts. He said that ulema would lead the rallies after Friday prayers.

He said that Maulana Shah Abdul Aziz would lead the rally in Karak while Maulana Abdul Sattar would lead protesters in Hangu. Javed Paracha who had served as MNA would lead the rally in Kohat.

He said that the US had violated sovereignty of an independent country and this was also violation of the international laws. He termed attack in Balochistan a part of international conspiracy against Pakistan in which neighbouring countries were also involved.—Bureau Report
