PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief Salahuddin Khan Mehsud has ordered establishment of internal accountability branch (IAB) in the police department.

A statement issued here on Wednesday said that IAB was being set up under the section 41 of the KP Police Act, 2017.

The IAB shall be headed by a police officer of the rank of additional inspector general of police. The branch shall comprise of two wings — human rights vigilance wing and complaint and enquiry wing. Each wing will be headed by an assistant inspector general of police. This order shall come into force with immediate effect, the statement concluded.
