KOHAT: The administration of Sangerh Family Health Hospital (FHH), a subsidiary of International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), has been asked by the women and children hospital (WCH) to vacate its building after14 years,0fñcialsources said.

When contacted, FHH programme manager Ajmal Khan told this scribe on Wednesday that FHH was the backbone of Rahnuma Family Planning Association of Pakistan (RFPAP) system as it provided reproductive health and family planning services besides creating awareness of Aids in high-risk areas in the whole Kohat district and nearby localities.

He said that earlier the WCH administration had dropped its demand after the Frontier Education Foundation College, occupying 90 per cent of the old hospital`s area, was declared a government facility. However, now it has asked them to vacate the building.

He said that FHH was established in 2003 after shifting of the women`s hospital (WCH) from Sangerh to the building of Liaquat Memorial Hospital.

`Our donor is ready to provide us funds to hire a much bigger building, but it will not be ideally situated in the city causing inconvenience to the women patients,` Mr Khan claimed. The Kohat division has one Family Health Hospital and three Family Health Centres.

WEAPONS SEIZED: Jarma police foiled two attempts of smuggling weapons and hashish to Bannu on the Indus Highway on Wednesday.

DSP Zahir Shah told a press conference that a police team stopped a car at Muslimabad checkpost and on checking recovered two repeaters, 38 pistols, 45 chargers and cartridges from it. The car was going to Bannu. An alleged smuggler, identified as Shah Khalid of Darra Adamlchel, was arrested and FIR lodged against him.

Also, over 15 kilogrammes of hashish was recovered from CNG tank of another car during search at the same checkpost. The alleged smugglers, both residents of Bannu, were identified as Habibur Rehman and Sahibazada. They were booked for carrying drugs.
