LAHORE: Divers of the Parks and Horticulture Authority on Thursday saved lives of eight members of a family after their boat capsized at the Gulshan-i-lqbal Park lake.

Eight members of a family, some children among them, visited Gulshan-i-lqbal Park in the evening to enjoy boating. `The young ones started jumping and throwing water on one another to enjoy every bit of the boat ride and all of a sudden it lost balance and all of them fell into the lake,` a PHA spokesman told Dawn.

He said the PHA rescuers dived into the lake and took the picnickers out. None of them suffered even minor injury as they had worn life jackets, he said.

Keeping in view the recent rains, he said, the park administration had already reduced release of water into the lake limiting it to a depth of just three and-a-half feet. He appealed to the visitors to follow the instructions before boating or enjoying other recreational facilities to avoid any untoward incident.

According to another official, the family remained in panic for about an hour or so after the incident.
