LAHORE: The management of the Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) is likely to start transferring the corrupt and negligent officials occupying various slots for the last 10 years or so.

In the first phase, the officials of various categories posted in the board’s two most important branches since long will be reshuffled and the management has almost finalised their list.

Official sources say the action is being taken after the BISE management reached a consensus that reshuffle of various officials (BPS-5 and onward) is needed to make the examination system transparent.

“Keeping in view the situation, it has been decided that bad practices will not be tolerated at all in the future. And those continuing to be involved in such practices by holding various slots for the last many years will be transferred,” said a senior BISE official.

Talking to Dawn on Sunday, the official, who wished not to be quoted, said the BISE would start taking action from its Conduct and Secrecy branches where various officials had been working at least for the last 10 years. These officials, whose names were being kept confidential, are reportedly involved in such practices as were causing problems in the way of carrying out official activities in a transparent manner, he added. “The officials, who have been using political influence whenever action was planned against them in the past, will be transferred gradually. The action will start by this or next week,” the official added.

He said transferring the officials under a phased manner was being done to avoid any sort of problem in any branch keeping in view the exhaustive routine activities related to holding exams and announcing results, etc. He said the officials, who are likely to be transferred in the first phase were performing duties related to assigning and appointing invigilators for exams, marking of papers and admission.
