Accord with Chinese firms to build IT park

LAHORE: A memorandum of understanding (MoU)wassignedonMonday between the Punjab government and two Chinese companies to build an Information Industry Park.

The MoU inked by heads of the Punjab IT Board (PITB), Hangzhou East Technology Investment Co.

Ltd and Ruba SEZ Group at the Arfa Software Technology Park aims at building an advance management system for information industry, building longterm IT Industry development plan and promoting the national level corporation.

PITB chairman Dr Umar Saif said the MoU was a landmark that would strengthen the neglected IT industry in Pakistan.

Terming the MoU another milestone for strengthening the Pak-China friendship, Hangzhou chairman SongXiaochun said parties would endeavour to the best of their capabilities to generate investment leads and share information on the extended opportunities.

He said `the main purpose of our visit is to get true thoughts and concerns on the China-Palc Economic Corridor and IT Industry Park from central and local governments to finalise a feasibility of the industry park, to investigate potential sites and get to know policies, services and infrastructures, to explore regular consultation mechanism, set up the counterpart communication with central, provincial and local governments and to discuss the Hawk Training Programme for Pakistani software talent and promoting the cooperation framework of IT authorities between the two countries.` Staff Reporter
