Two `gangster` brothers killed, SHO, constable wounded

KARACHI: Two suspected gangster brothers were killed in an encounter, which also left the Kalakot SHO and a constable wounded, in Musharraf Colony on early Wednesday morning, officials said.
Acting on a tip-off, the police party led by Kalakot SHO Ayaz Khan conducted a raid in 500 Quarters near Musharraf Colony in the Mauripur area.
On seeing the police, the suspects resorted to firing in which SHO Ayaz Khan and constable Anwer Aslam sustained bullet wounds.
The police returned fire, killing both suspects.
The police officer sustained three bullet wounds in the abdomen and was admitted to the Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), where his condition was stated to be out of danger, said City SSP Faizullah Korejo.
The dead were identified asGhulam Akbar, alias Gulabo, and Shahbaz, alias Shabbo. A police spokesperson said that both dead were brothers.
`They were active members of a gang led by Noor Mohammed, alias Baba Ladla, and involved in multiple murders,` said the City SSP. He said Ghulabo was a ringleader ofthe gang.
The SSP said that at least seven FIRs had been registered against Gulabo at different police stations of Lyari Meanwhile, Sindh police inspector general A.D.
Khowaja on Wednesday visited the AKUH and inquired after the health of the wounded Kalakot SHO.
He also inquired about the health of the injured police constables brought here from Quetta for treatment.
The SSP-east informed the IG police that 26 constables were brought from Quetta and eight of them were still getting treatment while the others hadbeen discharged.
The IG also met doctors and relatives of the injured policemen.
