LAHORE: Punjab police Inspector General Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has ordered establishment of fullyfledged police welfare branches at district level all over the province.

Each branch shall be supervised by an officer of sub-inspector rank who will report to district police of ficer (DPO) concerned.

The IG stated this while presiding over a combined meeting of welfare and finance, special protection unit, IT, operations and development wings of police at the Central Police Ofñce (CPO) on Wednesday.

He said the in charge of the welfare branch would forward cases of the district police officials to the CPO without any delay so that funds could be transferredto the concerned police officials.

He said the welfare funds should be transferred directly to the bank accounts of police officials instead of issuance of cheques in the name of DPOs so that the applicant could get the funds without any difficulty and delay.

The IG directed the welfare DIG to ensure monitoring of these branches at the district level personally.

While directing SPU DIG, the IG said the unit`s personnel should be allowed weekly rest and two leaves per month. The IG told Punjab Constabulary (PC) Commandant Hussain Asghar that construction of boundary wall of Police Training Centre, Matti Tal, Multan, should be completed soon and close-circuit cameras and searchlights should be installed there immediately.
