LAHORE: SSP Investigation Rana Ayaz Saleem claimed on Saturday police busted a gang of dacoits in the provincial capital, arresting its three members and recovering looted items, including a motorcycle and gold jewellery, from them.

In his first interaction with the media after assuming charge as the SSP Investigation, he said the suspects had robbed many citizens, including traders in Ichhra. They had also injured a number of them on resistance.

Talking about the modus operandi of the suspects, he saidtheyusedtoopenñreon the victims before robbing them. He said the Ichhra police had traced them on a tip-off.

Mr Saleem also revealed his some plans to bring about reforms in the investigationwing, saying he would focus street crime, including robberies.

`The tracing of high-profile crimes will be my top priority,` he said, adding investigation into the cases would be carried out with scientific techniques forensic lab would also be utilised. He directed the investigation wing officers to utilise their services to improve their image and put their focus on the service of the citizens.

The SSP also warned the incompetent police officials who got them transferred from the Operations wing to the Investigation Wing, saying that they would have to work honestly, otherwise, they would have to face punishment.

On the occasion, Ayaz Saleem announced the citizens would find door of his office open during the official timing and they could visit his office without seeking any reference.
