Call to shift fruit market out of Karak city

KARAK: Traders of Karak city have demanded of the district administration to shift the fruit and vegetable market out of the city to an open place to give relief to the local residents.

They also sought a project for widening of the old bazaar road to end trafhc mess.

The demands were made by local people and traders, including Iqbal Khan, Nawaz Khan and others, in a meeting of elders of the city.

Later, they told media persons that the road leading through the fruit and vegetable market to old bazaar via residential areas could not sustain the pressure of traf fic rush.

They said that when a vehicle carrying vegetableswas parked in the market it blocked the road, creating problems for the local people and pedestrians. The elders also called for antiencroachment drive to remove vendors from the roadsides of the bazaar.

ROAD PROJECT: Advisor to the chief minister on prisons, Malik Qasim Khan Khattak, has said that work on th remaining portion of Karak-Darratang road has been started.

He said this while addressing a public gathering here on Friday at Jehangeri area of his constituency. He said that the project was approved during the MMA government and work on the first phase had been completed. Correspondent
