Shaukatullah warmly welcomed in his hometown

KHAR: The outgoing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Shaukatullah returned to his hometown from Peshawar the other day after his resignation from the governorship.

Mr Shaukatullah Khan companied by some senior officials arrived here by a special helicopter. He was warmly received by a group of tribal elders and officers of local administration at the helipad in his home town at Nawgai. He was then taken to his native home situated in a mountainous area amid a procession of vehicles.

Speaking to delegations of tribal elders, religious and political leaders at his residence, Mr Shaukatullah said he had tried his best to deliver on the welfare of tribal areas during his tenure of as governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

`I made all possible efforts to serve the tribesmen and bring some positive changes in the socio-economic condition of the tribal areas without discrimination. And I am sure that I succeeded in my mission,` he said.

Mr Shaukatullah said being a tribesman serving as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor was great honour for every citizen of Fata, and it showed that tribesmen were also capable of holding such high posts.

The outgoing governor said during his tenure he kept taking up the tribal issues with the prime minister and other senior officials and they assured me of taking all steps for the larger interest of tribesmen.

Engineer Shaukatullah lauded the tribal elders for their efforts and sacrifices in restoration of peace in the agency. He said the government was proud of the sacrifices of the tribal elders for protection of the country.

Mr Shaukatullah was the first ever tribal elder appointed as the governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in February 2013 by the then president Asif Ali Zardari.
