MIRAMSHAH: Eighty-nine families reached North Waziristan Agency via the Ghulam Khan border crossing as return of the refugees from Afghanistan resumed here on Monday.
Officials said that total 445 individuals who belonged to Haderkhel Wazir tribe arrived from Afghanistan’s Khost province. After arrival they were taken to a registration point at Ghulam Khan for verification.
An official told mediapersons that those returning would be taken to a camp in Bakakhel in Frontier Region Bannu. Authorities would provide shelter and food to the returning refugees at the camp being managed by the army.
The official said that around 3,000 residents of North Waziristan were waiting for their return from Afghanistan. These people had migrated to Afghanistan in the wake of the operation Zarb-i-Azb in North Waziristan in June 2014. A large number of families have already been brought back to their homes from Afghanistan. —Correspondent
