KAR ACHI: An antiterrorism court again extended on Thursday an interim prearrest bail of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Senator Nehal Hashmi in a case pertaining to his controversial speech against judiciary and public servants.

The disgruntled PML-N leader was booked for extending threats to the judiciary and members of a joint investigation team that conducted a probe into the alleged money laundering of the Sharif family after his May 28 controversial speech went viral on social media and was also aired on news channels.

The matter was fixed before the ATC-I on Thursday for arguments on the bail application for confirmation or otherwise, but the investigating officer once again informed the court that the charge sheet had not been ñled yet and the administrative judge of the ATCs had granted him another week to submit an investigation report.

Subsequently, the court extended interim bail till Aug 10. On Aug 4, the IO had also sought adjournment on identical grounds.

Initially, a case was registered against the senator on June 4 at the Bahadurabad police station under Sections 189 (threat of injury to public servant), 228 (intentional insult or interruption to public servant sitting in judicial proceeding) and 505 (statements inciting public mischief)of the Pakistan Penal Code on behalf of the state.

Later, Section 7 of the AntiTerrorism Act, 1997, was incorporatedin the case.
