`Ours stands among the districts, where electricity tariff recovery is 100 per cent but ironically, despite that, we are being subjected to the excessive power cuts and low voltage. If the government doesn`t mend its ways, we will besiege grid station and offices of Pesco here,` PTI councillor Shahid Rafique told the council.

The councillors of both sides also demanded of the provincial government to dole out special funds for the reconstruction of over 200 girls and boys schools, which were destroyed in the 2005 earthquake but weren`t included by the provincial government orEarthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority in the reconstruction strategy.

`The people of Mansehra city have beenfacingacute shortage of water, which has been aggravating.

`Both district and tehsil governments should adopt a joint strategy to bring water from other source to the area,` said Malik Naveed of Jamiat Ulema-i-IslamFazl.

The council also demanded 100 per cent increase in rent of the district government`s rest houses in the district from Rs2,000 per night to Rs4,000 per night and the permit-issuing right for the district nazim instead of the deputy commissioner.

Speaking on occasion, district nazim Sardar Said Ghulam said the people whose land was acquired for Suki Kanari hydropower project opposed the prices fixed by the government.

`This forum also demands of the government to increase land prices as prevail in the market, he said.
