By Nisar Ahmad Khan 2014-10-11
MANSEHRA: The tehsil administration of Oghi has secured the possession of a primary school for girls occupied by a man, who had donated land for the educational institution.

A police team led by assistant commissioner of Oghi Shahrukh Khan went to Khattai area, broke the lock illegally put on the school`s door by landowner Mohammad Jahangir and secured the possession of the structure built four years ago.

The assistant commissioner for-mally handed over the building to the district education department for the start of classes.

`We won`t let anyone stop girls from getting education. This school has been built for girls and will be used for the very purpose,` he said.

Shahrukh Khan said the government had built the school to provide local girls with education but it had been closed for four years to the misery of girls,` he said.

Landowner Jahangir insisted he had donated his land for school on the condition that he would be employed in the educational institution but when he was denied the job, he locked the building.

The local residents thanked the administration for unlocking the school and said the step would help increase literacy rate among girls.

They said after the school was locked, they began sending theirdaughters to schools in neighbouring villages. The residents said they were hopeful that the school would enrol a large number of girls.

HOUSE GUTTED: A huge fire destroyed a house in Naroti area on Friday.

The fire reportedly caused by electric short-circuit engulfed the six-room building in no time and thus, reducing goods to ashes.

The people tried to douse the fire by throwing water on it but to no avail.

The Ere engine reached the place only after the fire put out after two hours. No damage to human life was reported.

Owner of the house Mohammad Qayyum said the people evacuated members of his family before the fire engulfed the building.

He said he was not sure how the fire erupted.
