SSP in search of able investigators

GUJRANWALA: Investigation ofñcers will be posted in police stations on the basis of their professional knowledge in modern investigation methodologies besides their academic qualification, experience and career history.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nadeem Husain said this in a briefing on Wednesday.

The SSP of operations wing said the appointment of professional investigators was the first of its kind in the country, which would bring about a positive change.

He said he had sought applications from the of ficials interested in undertalcing investigation seats in police stations a few days ago. The response was overwhelming, he said, and the applications were being scrutinised to find able and honest offi-cials for the investigation wing.

The SSP saidinvestigation along scientific and modern techniques would help people get justice in courts. He said the postings would be completed shortly.

SUSPENDED: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was suspended from service on corruption charges on Wednesday.

ASI Yasin, deployed at Lorry Adda police post, caught Sultan Ahmad in a case and released him after getting Rs15,000.

City SP Tahir Maqsood Cheena suspended him from service and issued show cause notice.

SHELTER: A special judicial magistrate sent two women to the shelter on Wednesday.

Fatima and her daughter Asia, of People`s Colony, and Amna, of Eminabad Mor, appeared before the magistrate and requested that they be sent to the protection home as their familieshad expelled them from houses.
